On 2nd April, 1915, the 1st Leinster battalion of 82 Brigade, 27th Division moved into front line trenches at Ypres where they remained until relieved on 9th April when they moved back to support positions in Armagh Wood. During this period in the trenches John Wilkie was wounded and he died on 9th April but the exact date on which he was wounded is, as yet, unknown. |
